For just a moment, just for the sake of argument, accept the premise that one’s life is the result of his own decision and choices. Supposing this were true, wouldn’t everyone choose happiness instead of pain? If destiny is mostly a matter of choice, then why are so many people’s lives filled with loneliness, frustration, poverty, and shame?
The reason is because man always takes the path of least moral resistance, usually with a bundle of rationalization tucked under each arm. Simply put, a great percentage of the time, man will take the easiest route in whatever decision he is asked to make. It is just easier to choose the less difficult road if it brings pleasure or delays pain.
